Stockton Channel
There was a bit of a feeding frenzy in the Stockton Channel of the Hunter River this evening with a large group of Silver Gulls and Great Crested and Common Terns diving into a school of fish.
We see the Littles in the estuary too, and in winter the White Fronted across on Stockton Beach. White-winged Black Tern around the river mouth in February, if you are lucky, and Whiskered Tern back from the coast at Ash Island and Hexham Swamp.
Stockton is a great place for birding. How many Tern species do you get up there? I saw Common, Crested, Caspian and Gull-billed on Tuesday
